So parades, by order of the New York Police Department and to free up $3.1 million per year for “more essential” policing duties, were commanded Monday to shrink by 25 percent.

Let's hope this portends a march toward eliminating most parades in Manhattan, a key plank in the campaign platform of BobOnARoll's (failed) mayoral write-in campaign last year.

And then, hope suddenly turns to despair. Seems as though school bake sales will become a distant memory, if a city commission has its way. Too many unknown ingredients and all that fat and sugar from brownies, cookies, etc etc. Tsk, tsk. Celery stalks, apples, carrots, all good. Oh, yeah, the new regs also allow Doritos, Pop Tarts, and those so-called health bars---which students can still buy from the in-school vending machines, untouched by the new rules. Go figure.
