How is it that six terms in the US Senate is seen as a virtue in a representative democracy? Our system borders on autocracy, not democracy. Rule by a narrow select few whose power stems from crafty re-election strategies and longevity. We might as well be Singapore, where one family has more or less effficiently run a sham democracy since its independence from Malaysia. If it often feels like we rarely get the change we need, well, hmm......
