Great journalism

David Brooks's column in today's NYT highlights his choices for the best long-form magazine journalism of the year. What a gift to me to read a prominent columnist writing something nice about magazines and journalism---the twin passions of my (once-upon-a-time) professional career.

He mentions several pieces that I had already read, including the Atul Gawande piece(s) that I have blogged about here.
