More hopeless dithering

From today's NYT, another reason why we are in a hopeless mess about airport security. How to make a virtue out of chaos:

“The advantage we have of random unpredictable procedures is it will prevent somebody from figuring out how to game the system,” Ms. Rossides said. “The security strategy in its core has built in randomness and unpredictability. That is a strength of the system.”

Not even my ex could come up with self-justification as good as that. Dysfunction is now a virtue.

All I want to know is whether my 100 ml tube of toothpaste passes muster.
