Apparently, BobOnARoll ideas about ethnic and religious parades in Manhattan are already being realized in Tokyo. No surprise, that, in a country which values efficiency, as I do.
Though absolute bans are not in place here, this photo, taken today, shows another way to do it right: 30 or so guys hoisting a religious shrine on their shoulders, parading down one lane and then onto a sidewalk on a busy shopping street in Omotesando Hills. Twisting, turning, chanting.
The area did not come to a standstill. Freedom of religious expression was preserved. Traffic flowed. Shoppers surged onward. Smiles all around.
Tokyo. My kinda town.
