The power of advertising

Hershey Co.'s fourth-quarter net income jumped 51% thanks to higher selling prices and lower restructuring costs, but the candy maker noted the economic downturn could hurt 2009 results.

The chocolate maker said higher prices and a huge advertising investment behind its core Reese's and Hershey's brands bolstered results. President and Chief Executive Officer David J. West credited a 26% boost in advertising spending with fueling sales in spite of higher commodity costs and unfavorable foreign currency-exchange rates.   (Wall Street Journal)

OK, fellow ad salespeople !  Start your engines and let's rock!
